Book: The Alasdair McKay Family : From Scots to Canadians

The book "The Alasdair McKay Family" was written by Judy Gail Swan in 1995 by Prairie House Books of Calgary.

My GG Grandfather is John James McKay, who was one of the original Coal Miners that moved to Lethbridge from Pictou NS in 1882.

The table of contents for this book on the Library of Congress website indicates there's a great deal of content in this book about my family, but the book is out of print. It's available is several Canadian libraries, but I can't find a printed copy to buy anywhere. Does anyone have a copy of this book (or access to one)?

Much Thanks!
Mike Ross

Thanks Stella,

After I sent this note, I did find that there are several places with copies, including the Galt Museum in Lethbridge and some libraries around Canada, so I've got some options to send away from some info. I still hope to find a personal copy. I'd love to give one to my Mother as a gift. Her maiden name is McKay and the book is pretty much her pedigree.

None of the usual places (amazon, abe, etc) have a used copy. I have sent an email to the address of the publisher, so thanks for that!

Did you find a copy of the book? The Author is my mother, Judy Swan. I think she still has copies at home if you need one sent.

Thanks, I did get in touch with your mother and bought a couple of copies of the book, including one for my mother.

My Great Grandfather was James Ronald (Ronnie) McKay, a brother of your mom's grandmother Minnie.

In her book on page 75, she says of my Great Grandfather "He was married twice. I don't know who his first wife was..."

His first wife was my Great Grandmother Hattie Nipper McKay. They married and had several children during a time he lived in Montana. They separated and he moved back to Canada and married again.

Thanks for your reply, and next time you see your mother, tell her my whole family has really enjoyed the book.
