Hello Everyone,

I will be hosting a Gilliard-Gaillard-Gillyard-Gilyard family reunion in Ft. Lauderdale, FL Aug 1-3, 2003. I can be reached at lwsdanag@aol.com. I am related to the late Eddie Gaillard out of South Carolina. He had a lot of brothers and sisters that we don't know. I think some of them may be named Aaron, Joe, Johnny etc. According to the records that name has been changed several times. My parents have searched the east side of the US. We are looking for the above family members. My grandmother Janie moved to Maryland. I believe everyone originally came from Sumpter SC.

We want to gather and have a great time. Our family members are black. Our ancestors were once workers of Mr. Gaillard out of France. We have been planning this reunion for a while and can't contact everyone. If anyone has any information it would be helpful. Eddie Gaillard - was born around 1886 and had many children. Eddie Jr, Ella, Abertus, Issac, Sarah, Laura, Lizzie, George, Jafare, Maimie and Levan. I believe my grandfather was half white and black, but looking at my family members (I can't see it at all).

Thanks
Dana

Do you know if there was a Henrietta Gaillard in your family?
She was my great great grandmother and married my great great grandfather Alfred S. Simmons.
They lived in Charleston S.C.
The latest info I have is that she was born in April 1849
in South Carolina and died in the early 1920's.
Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.
David

Hi..
My brothers and my litter sister and I are curious about the our Gailliard name. My father is from Charleston, SC. He has several brothers and sisters. I live in Maryland, where I recently met a fellow teacher who happens to be a Gailliard. My uncles spell the name Gilliard. My father spelled it with the "a" in the beginning of the first "i". I would love to know what you know.

Michelle,

Let me say that no matter how you spell this name, it has a rich tradition. I can trace my connection to this name back to my Great Great GrandMother whose name is Mary Gilliard (as spelled on her death certificate). Mary a close as I can discern was born abt. 1840. She was the mother of 4 children, 2 sons, and 2 daughters one of which was my grandmother's mother or father. I don't know, nor does my mother who was Mary's Great Grand daugter. All I know is that when Mary died she was approx. 107 years old, and my mother and her sister didn't have a take recorder to capture her stories, and that is sad.
