I am looking for the family of John George Kapp, born 2/10/1845 in Alsace-Lorraine, France and married Elizabeth Landfried. John was young when he came to America with his parents and a sister.

I have done much research on the Kapp family.
Mostly in Dubois County, Jasper Indiana. I know at one point they came from Germany.

Would love to share with you too.

Please contact me direct at dwcan1@wowway.com

Saw your inquiry are you still interested? John George was my great grandfather, came over from Alsace Lorraine with his parents George Kapp and Charlotte (?Hornick) Kapp. My grandfather was George Abraham Kapp (b 1880) John Georges son by his second wife Mary Ellen Baker Kapp. My mother was Reba Delores Kapp Massey one of six children of George Abraham Kapp of Poca, Putnam County WV.

Visited the homestead of John George Kapp on Kapp Ridge in Mason County in 2006. Original log house is gone but the old farm house is still there sitting on 360 acres still in the Kapp family.

I am trying all leads, so I'm sorry if this doesn't match up. I have a John Kapp, living in Albany in 1880 with his grandmother, Louisa Weber. John was born abt 1860 in New York; Louisa, who is listed in the Albany census from 1850 to 1880, variously lists her home country as Germany, Mecklenberg, Hamburg and Prussia. She died about 1891. John lists his father as having been born in Prussia (mother Wurtemberg), so it appears that he is her grandson via her son. I assume Louisa was widowed from a Kapp and remarried to Henry Weber. I can't find John before 1880; he may be in address lists in Albany, but there is more than one. Do these Kapps match in any way with yours? Thanks! Ann
