I have been told that my husband's great grandmother Lucy Anne Toliver Fultz was at least half Cherokee.

She still has a daughter living in Georgia?named Polly Anne Tolliver Fultz -

Taliaferro/Toliver (Cherokee blood)

Kamie, My grandmother, Sarah Jane Elizabeth Taliaferro was supposed to be part Cherokee Indian. Her father was Creed Nuckles Taliaferro (some of the family used the shorter version Toliver). Creed was supposed to be 1/2 to full blooded Cherokee. Only my line of the family will confirm the Cherokee blook. I can't document this at all. He was from the North Carolina area, I guess before the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma. Some of the family had farms and slaves, I am told. I am about to close the door on this line because as I said, I can't document anything about the Cherokee line. IF you know anything about any of this, please let me know. Thanks, Evelyn

Creed

Travis Toliver,
Creed Toliver (Taliaferro) was my Great Grandfather. He had a twin named Clark Nuckols Toliver (Taliaferro). Creed was married to Frances (Frankey) Irene Burchett. One of their daughters was Sarah Jane Elizabeth--my Grandmother.
Does any of this ring a bell with you. Creed's father was Solomon Toliver and his fathr was Jesse Toliver. Let me know if this is your ancestry. By the way, I have a grandson named Travis. :-)

HI Helen,
Yes, I know that Mary and Sarah were sisters. How are you related to Karen Woody. She and I met a few years ago when my siser Lorraine and I took a trip back east for a reunion on my father's side. In fact, Karen called me a couple of weeks ago and surprised me to death. What do you know about Creed being 1/2 Cherokee. All we can come up with is "word of mouth" from the elders. Charles Bailey is the eldest living from Sarah's family. He was her youngest child and is my Uncle. He is probably close to 80. I am 73 and will soon be one of the elders. :-) My mother, Carrie, was Sarah's daughter. You probably know all of this. I live in California and have 4 grown children, 12 grandchildren, and l greatgrandson and another on the way. So,you see I have to find all of my ancestors before I am gone so my children and their's and their's will know them.
Tell me about your self and how you are related to Karen.
Thanks for replying.
Evelyn, your cousin.

hi!!
hope youre door isnt closed yet??
dont have the specifics youre looking for, but i come from Jesse Toliver & Franky Stampers line of Tolivers out of NC-
there was some census listing Jesse having two boys, aged 4-if you have your Cherokees b.year?-living with them...
also, do a rootsweb lookup & a Dawes rolls lookup-i have found the Tolivers,Stampers & Isoms in my line listed there with both Cherokee & Choctaw blood !!
also, go online to the native american sitres & put in for the Toliver name or the Cherokee nation & see if you can find some one else looking for the family.
ive found that if theyre not here, there are plenty other sites they may be on...
let me know if you find the Cherokee connection, cause the twin Nucles/Nuchols boys are cousins of mine-somehow, still havent gotten to their folks...
also, my line goes down a couple generations to a Reed line out of Mass., my kin there are Choctaw-
but Cherokee & Choctaw are both part of the Five Civilized Tribes,so i can ususally find info on all my Native lines pretty closely stacked !!
give it a try!!
Happy Hunting!
