I'm having trouble finding an ancestor on my paternal grandmother's side. It would be her mother who is named Adelaie. Her married name is Jones and was born I Louisiana. Anyone have any tips on how to find a maiden name? I was ony able to find one Census record. Please help!

They Lived in St. John parish, Louisiana 
Her daughter Julia Jones is my paternal grandmother
Race is black 
I found the 1920 census but that's it. I have no clue when she died. 
I'm afraid her name may have been spelled multiple ways, which adds to the frustration of finding more about her.
