Surnames: GARNER, GILMORE
I have just recieved my grandmother Lou Ella Garner Gilmore's death certificate. It shows my Uncle giving his mothers place of birth as "St Marks, La." on 12 July 1884.

I can't find where that is, anyone have any idea?

Any help is appreciated!

Lisa

Is it written clearly? Could it be St. Mary Parish, Louisiana?

Hi,

Yes, it is very clear, "St. Marks, La." is how it is written.

I'm wondering if they meant "Marksville, La."?

Although, it could be that St Marks, Louisiana was in exsistance when she was born and no longer, right? If so, maybe I can find it on an old map of that time period.

I'll keep it in my list of places to find with Staffords Landing, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana.

Thank you!
