Prove to me that I have not come from a line that hatched from an egg, please!
My GG grandfather, Eli (John?) CHAPPELL was b. Abt. 1810 in North Carolina, married Andis or Audis REVERE, possibly in Tennessee, and bought a farm outside the township of Morrison Bluff, Johnson Co. (now Logan Co.), Arkansas. They had several children before he was murdered on the farm in the 1860s (1864-67 time period). The family fled to Texas and settled in the Red River Co. and Lamar Co., Texas, region. One son, Samuel, had been married to Serinah ________ and had a son, Edward CHAPPELL. There is nothing about what happened to Serinah and Edward. Samuel married secondly Zulus A. LACEY in Red River Co., TX, shortly after they got there.

Who are the parents of Eli CHAPPELL, Andis REVERE?

What happened to Serinah and Edward CHAPPELL?

Who killed Eli and why?

I have the following Eli Chappell in my files. Born about 1810 in Wake County, NC. Came to Hickman County, TN. early 1820s. I think he along with Drury and Ansell were brothers to my great great grandmother Charlotte Chappell, wife of Alexander Clark.

Thank you for fresh clues. I had to set aside my search for Eli for a while because of a major break in discovering another line. I will continue my hunt.

Mary, I found Eli Chappell in Johnson Co., AR, with his family living next door to Alexander CLARK and his wife, Charlotte. I was not sure if you were aware of Alexander and Charlotte Clark being in Arkansas in 1860.

Judi,
Alexander Clark that married Charlotte Chappell died in Hickman County, TN. in 1852. His oldest son by his first wife Elizabeth Robertson was also named Alexander. He may have had a wife named Charlotte. I would love this information as I have no information on him.

Judi,
I forgot to say thanks for letting me know about the census record. Also do you know if Eli is the son of Ancel or Drury?
If He belongs to Ancel, then Ancel must have been married twice or Eli is a little younger than his census age.

I'm still trying to figure out who his parents are and what Annis/Andis' last name is. It's down to Drury and Ancell as his father. I double-checked the date on the census record as I had both censuses open when I was writing the posting. I confused the Tennessee census with the Arkansas census. I'm so sorry. Eli's neighbor in Arkansas was a John Moore. It was in Hickman Co., TN, that he was next door to Alexander and Charlotte. I do apologize.

Judi,
Thats ok I get confused sometimes too. That was 1850 Hickman County, Tennessee. Eli was on the same page
as Ansel in 1840, Alexander and Charlotte also was on this page. This was page 194 and Drury on 210. I believe Ancel
is his father, but Dorcas may not be his mother. Are you on
the mailing list? There was a couple of informative post to the
list I can forward them if you did not see them.
