Is it São Paulo State or São Paulo City?
What is the time frame?

There are more questions but I need to know these first.

I'm looking for relatives of Wenzel Bartl who left Daruvar (Darova) in the Banat region of Austria-Hungary (now Romania) to settle in Sao Paulo in the early 1900's. His sisters were Katherine, Marianna, and Anna.

Thanks,
Cathy

Hi Cathy

Are you sure that the Daruvar you are referring to is in present day Romania? Croatia has a town called Daruvar.

Hi Mirjana,

Yes, I am sure that my Bartls came from Daruvar/Darowa in what was then known as Banat, Austria-Hungary. A relative from this branch of my family tree recently visited the town. She also obtained a copy of a book with residents' names, pictures of graveyard headstones, etc.. The book, which is in German, shows that the original Bartl settler as coming from "Blesz in Bohem." I will have to search this town on the Shetlfinder website to find its exact location in the Czech Republic.
The other Daruvar also may have been part of A-H, at one time.

Hi, I am also looking for relatives from Darova, Hungary. My grandparents came from there to Michigan in 1904. Janos Gengler married Franzizska Schwab in Darova on 5 Nov, 1896. Children, Andrew, Rosa and Magdelena were born in Darova.
Janos's father was named Peter Gengler, but also called Nick. His mother was Anna Schonherr. John had borthers, Anton and George and a sister Katherina, who married Josef Ehmann. Do any of these names ring a bell with you? I am at a standstill with my research. I would appreciate any help that anyone may have. Thanks. June

I have just discovered that Wenzel Bartl emigrated to Brazil from the Banat area of Romania in the 1920's. There he married Katharina Ginder. They had two daughters Marianna, born 1925 and Katharina born 1927. Marianna married and had three children. If anyone has information about this family, I would love to hear from you.
