My maiden name is Berry and I'm from KY (Clark Co.) I don't have my info with me at the moment (in motorhome) so anything will be from memory. There is a lot of Berry's in the area. There was a Thomas Berry that received 100's of acres land grant in Clark and Powell Co and came from Virginia in the late 1700's. I believe his wife was a Ward. There was a Peter which would have been my gggrandfather, son Peter who had sons George (my father's grandfather)and Benjamin Franklin (my mother's grandfather)who married Dora Everman (my ggrandmother). Other family members are more involved than I am, but if this sounds like where you are trying to go, contact me and I'll put you in touch with others or find out what I can.

I, too, have Berry's in Kentucky, I think! But I have a Thomas Berry who married an Esther Ward about 1758, his second wife, between the two wives there were about 11 or 12 children. They were from Abingdon, Va. I am a descendent of James whose mother was Esther Buchanan. James married an Elizabeth McCutchen. If we are related, that would be wonderful! I am trying to find out more about the others on this family tree. i have the most information about my direct line. James Berry was born about 1740. Thomas Berry about 1718. Thanks for any help.

My ggg grandmother, was Elizabeth Berry from Clark Co KY--she married Richard Huls and in the 1860s they moved to Indiana. Her father was Thomas Berry Jr and her mother was Sarah "Sally" DeWitt. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Was the Thomas Berry who received the land grants the father of my Thomas Berry Jr is a big question. I found a will in Clark Co Ky for Thomas Berry Sr leaving land to his son Thomas etc. My Elizabeth Berry was born in 1829 and married Thomas Jr in 1846.

My family line comes from Thomas Berry and Esther Ward. My Thomas Berry was born in 1718 and dies 1799. He was married to Esther Ward who was born 1730 and died 1811. I found somewhere that he came from Ireland. They lived in Kentucky.

I am also interested in this line. I am attempting to help Berry College research a genealogy of Martha McChesney Berry who is the 2nd great grand daughter of Thomas Berry and Esther Rebecca Buchanan. Esther McClure Ward was Thomas Berry's 2nd wife.

Will be happy to send the information we have to anyone interested in this line.

My gggrandfather was born 12 Sep 1816, probably Clark Co., Ky., died 8 Aug 1870, Union Co., Ky., married 19 Mar 1839, Winchester, Clark Co., Ky., Caroline Elizabeth Cast, born 15 Jan 1818, Clark Co., died 15 Feb 1868, Boyd Co., Ky., d/o Marty Patsy Sympson and Amon Cast.
According to the family he had a brother or uncle named David Berry who died in Union Co., Ky., born 1804 Princess anne Co., Va., married 1831, Bourbon Co., Ky., Lorella Reed, lived in Clark Co., in 1830's, moved to Union Co., Ky., where he died.
Thomas Joseph Berry and his family moved from Clark Co., to Boyd Co., before 1860. He was a carpenter by trade, had a hardware store in Boyd Co., was one-armed. He was a Mason. Have been unable to definitely tie him into any other family in Clark Co. His children:
Mary Houston (Elizabeth) Berry my great-grandmother, b. 15 Feb 1840, Winchester, d. 24 Feb 1909, Hood Co., Tx., m. 5 Jul 1866, Ashland, Ky., William Joseph Anderson.
Amon E. Berry never marr., served in Union Army in Civil War, buried in Union Co.
James Thomas Lewis Berry b. 3 Jun 1846, Winchester Ky. d. 29 Jan 1880 Webster Co., Ky., m. 3 Jan 1869, Evansville, In., Nancy Marshall Clarke. His ch. all ended up in Texas.

Any information would be welcome. Since you are from Clark Co., thought maybe you might know something that others might not. I have been to Winchester two or three times looking for information. This was back in the 1970's when I first started looking for the Berrys. I have a copy of the information from the Bible of Thomas Joseph Berry and his wife Caroline Elizabeth Cast. Thanks so much. Dorothy.
