To answer Irma's question concerning the Cantley family tree there were only three Cantley's listed int eh first census of the U.S.(1790). These men were Charles Cantley of Prince Fredereick's Parish, Georgetown District,S.C.(present day Williamsburg Co.,S.C.), John Cantley of Clarendon Co, S.C. and John Cantley of Augusta Co., Va. I am a descendant of Charles. He came to Prince Frederick's before the Revolutionary War. Charles, John, James and Roger Cantley all served in a calvary unit at some time or other during that war. After the war I have been only able to find Roger and John. I am the volunteer genealogist at Williamsburg Co. library and have been doing genealogical research for 53 years. I believe that Charles of S.C. and John of Va., later WVA. may have been brothers because of the same given names in each family. Any comments?Mary Cantley Brown brownmary_cantle @hotmail.com
