Looking for ancestral information on Fowler Dawsey, a white male living in Georgetown, South Carolina, age 16 or older, in approximately 1790; and William Dawsey, also of Georgetown, with possibly a wife and five children, one of which may have been a son age 16 or older.

I have a feeling we are related. My great great grandfather was David C. Dawsey. He was married in Lownes County, Alabama in 1831. He supposedly came from Horry County, South Carolina. His father is supposed to be James Dawsey or Dorsey. Because Alabama was not a territory there were no censuses. We assume James is the father because he is the only Dawsey on the 1800 South Carolina Census with a child under 5. David was born around 1800. I hope this helps us both.

Cousin Scott; the old Dawsey house on Hwy 90 west of Quincy is still standing and well taken care of by David Avant, whose family has owned the place since Thomas Dawsey(grandfather of Davis Abner Dawsey)sold it in Ca. 1830. I have actually hunted ther three or four times. The historical marker with the Dawsey name still stands out front.

If you don't call me first, I'll get the cemetary info together and bug you sometime,.
