I am the great great grandson of a John DuBose who moved to Jasper County, Texas with his family in 1849. This DuBose family was from the Carolina's. John's father was Peter Perdept DuBose whose father was Peter Perdept DuBose III who was married to a Mary (Polly). This is all the information I have on her. She was probably born in the middle 1750's somewhere in the Carolinas. I think that your Mary Ann (Polly) Mims Headley may be this Mary (Polly). My John did not marry until he arrived in Texas because he was a small boy when they arrived in Texas. He married a Mary Roach Peacock who I am also looking for information on. If you have any information or I may be of further help to you please contact me your earliest. Am excited that I may find information of my Mary.

She would have been the daughter of Benjamin Peacock, who moved to Texas from Simpson County, MS. He was the son of William Peacock (1767-1843) and Susannah Roach. William was born in what is now Liberty County, GA, to Thomas and Ann Peacock, but moved to Tennessee. He married Susannah in Jefferson County, TN, in 1811, then moved to Washington Parish, LA, briefly to Marion County, MS, and finally to Simpson County.

Mary---Our side of the family has a story
about how 'Billy the Kid' was killed.
My greatgrandmother's maiden name was
Garrett--blood relation to Pat Garrett.
He was alerted about Billy the Kid.
Waited for him and killed him.
