I went to the JV Brown Library to snoop around...I found a bound book called Lycoming Co Cemeteries Vol VI pgs 192-217 contained families buried at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Muncy Creek Township, it gave what the tombstones read, it is published by the Lycoming Co Historical Society. I found John Opp, Mariah Sarah Opp, Gottfried (sp:Godfrey) Fiester, Maria Fiester(d/o Daniel Mary), Mary Fiester (w/o Daniel), Benjamin Fiester, Francis Fiester, Mary M. Fiester, W.H. Fiester, Emma C. Fiester, Elmer (s/o thomas emma) Fiester located in the book. I am going again to the cemetery this week, I was told by Chuck Brady that Gottfried's tombstone bears German on one side and English on the other. The cemetery is in bad condition, I was surprised that the headstones are falling off of their bases, the metal post that attach them together(rebar) are rusted and alot are leaning over. It is well kept(mowing) otherwise. I did not see Mary Magdelena Kepner Fiester's marker, not was it in the book. In the book there was a Mary M. Fiester listed, died June 23, 1892 aged 74y 3m 14 d, if that is true that would have made her birth about march 1818, this must be a grandchild. Something else of interest, Gary Buck mailed me that there is a copy of his will, do you folks have that? I ran across another document in a book called the History of Lycoming Co./Atlas of Lycoming Co., published in 1873, p. 99. There was a constitution signed about 1778-1779 by Gottfried and 9 others which the church formally adopted that so long as the house stood for a house of God and that it should be called "Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church", with no other than an ordained minister. It also reads that at this time the pastor was from Prussia, and spoke his sermons in German. The lady from the library is going to show me some documents that the church or somone had put on microfilm, all are hand-written documents. If you would like copies of this let me know. Give me you addresses and I will mail them to you. I am so excited! I know this one was a long one but...there was so much good info to share. Thanks, 'cousin' Chris

Eugene, My mother is a Feaster and I have been doing our tree which also goes back to Godfrey Fiester. My Fiester/Feaster branch goes through Jacob Mary (Robb) Fiester, Benjamin Mary (Sones) Fiester, Levi and Sara Ann (Bredbenner) Feaster, Daniel E. and Sevilla (Carl) Feaster, Stewart and Kate (Sierer) Feaster and Glenwood and Dorothy (Waylett) Feaster to my mother Muriel (Feaster) Barrett. Please eMail me. I just came back from Muncy, PA and have some nice photos of the grave sites of many Fiester/Feasters and the Imanuel Lutheran Church.

I have already seen the headstones at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They are in poor shape. I especially wanted to see Godfried headstone. For it is suppose to be in English and in German. I live in Williamsport, PA. Just in case I didn't say that. But the question of the day is why was the last name spelled different all of a sudden. My side of the family says that they were too stupid. But then I found out it was over an disagreement. Please, Please if you know the answer to this mystery. Call me and we will meet. My phone # is (570)329-2051. Thanks for everything. Gene

Gene, I wish I'd known you lived in Williamsport, I was just in Muncy last weekend to do some research on the Fiester/
Feaster name. I was at the Imanuel Cemetary and took some nice photos of the headstones and the church, Godfrey's is English on one side and German on the other. I'm sure there is a stupid reason for the change of the spelling, all I know is that it happens between Benjamin and his son Levi on the DAR
papers that I have. I also know that the Feaster spelling is the same as the Pfister's from Switzerland who settled in Lower NJ and in the Philadelphia area of PA and then moved into South Carolina hence the confussion. I'd like to see your line back to Godfrey. I just found some relatives from Oregon via Kansas, Illinois and PA, and I just added the Lynde Family (mostly from Kansas) the children of Mary Ella Fiester Burton C. Lynde. Mary Ella was the daughter of George A and Rachel (Laird) Fiester, who was the son of Benjamin Mary (Menges) Fiester, who came from Godfrey.
Send me your eMail address or call me at 201-653 1029. I'll be away until monday but leave a message. Thanks hope to hear from you soon, Al Barrett alsonbarrett@home.com
