I am looking for any connections to Romanian Segal's. I have some info, so if you are the right connections, I will know. They were a very big family and came to Chicago from Romania.

My name is Leonard Segal. I am very interested in learning about my family, and I saw your posted ad. My paternal great-grandparents are from a small town in Northern Romania called Dorohoi. They're names are Jacob and Anna. Anna's maiden name was Herman. From what my grandfather told me, Jacob came to Pittsburgh, PA around 1905 or 06, and married Anna in 1908. I am trying to find out who my great-great grandparents are and if there are any other relations to either Jacob Segal or Anna Herman. Thank you!! Please contact me by e-mail: Lpgh95@cs.com

Hello,

Like yourself, I have family from Dorohoi Romania. Their names are Jacob Segal and Anna Herman. They are my paternal great-grandparents, and came to Pittsburgh, PA around 1906. My great-grandfather Jacob had two brothers: Harry and Dave. I am told by my grandfather that Jacob and Anna were married in Pittsburgh around 1908. I would like to know about any other relatives in Romania that bear the Segal name. Please contact me by e-mail: Lpgh95@cs.com

My father grew up in Pittsburgh. Named David Segal, with brother Mervin and sister Myrna Segal Rosenstein. They were born in the 1920's and early '30s. My grandfather was named Harry Aaron Segal and he married Anna Sarah Abramovitz. They lived in East Liberty. Harry had brothers named Louis and Henry. Family came from Romania originally, around the turn of the century. My aunt Myrna Segal Rosenstein still lives in Pittsburgh and would know the other family names and the town that they were from. My grandfather died in the 1930's. Many of the men in the family were in the furniture business in Pittsburgh. Would like to be in contact with any Segals from Pittsburgh and Romania with possible family connections.

Hello: My name is David Segal and my family came to Mississippi from Pittsburgh and they were originally from Romania. I heard they settled around Bentonia, Miss. Someone said that my grandfather worked on the railroad. I do not have any living relatives that I know of. So I would appreciate any info if you have anything on this part of the family. Sincerely,

David,

My name is Leonard Segal, and I live about 15 miles outside of Pittsburgh. I don't know if any of these names sound familiar to you, but I'll give it a shot. My great-grandfather's name is Jacob Segal, and came to the US from Dorohoi, Romania in 1906. He had three brothers that I know of: Marcus, David, and Harry. David and Harry came to the US while Marcus stayed in Romania to help his parents run a furniture company. My grandfather tells me that they also owned the forest to make the furniture as well.
My great-great uncle Harry has a son Jerry, who is very much into the family tree and looking up lost relatives. None that I know of from our family has moved to Mississippi. Harry Segal lived in Pittsburgh for most of his life, then lived in Miami Beach. David Segal lived here, then moved to New York City. I'm not sure of the names of his children.
I hope this helped in some way. Let me know if you heard of, or may be related to you in any way.
Thanks for responding to my posted letter too!
Leonard
