There was an orphanage in Atlanta, Ga and I believe the name was Atlanta Children's Home. I was there as a child. I have contacted govt. agencies and they say if there were records, they have been destroyed as it was so long ago. I was there somewhere in the time between 1946-1949. If you have information about the name, address or whom to contact for further information, it would be greatly appreciated. Judy

Frances, Do you remember where in Buckhead it was. Do you happen to remember the road or street it was on. Instead of Buckhead, could it have been on Bankhead Rd? I was looking for it many years ago and an old black man told me it had just been torn down. They built a huge high school there on Bankhead or off Bankhead. Of course, there was nothing left to identify it in an way. Was it a large wooden building with all kinds of swings, slides and merry go round with huge trees outside? There was a home in Atlanta at 1011 Cleburn Avenue that was torn down in the late 60s and a new home built. Possibly this is the location you are looking for. The name was Southern Christian Home. Hope this helps.

My mother was in one there around the same time. She took our family to vist sometime in the 60's. She was an older child. Her last year was around May 1942, that's when she married my dad at the age of 15. I know I've got a picture somewhere, I'll try to find it.
