Kelly - I believe Anna Burgoyne is my great-grandmother. Michael Burgoyne, born in 1846 in either Germany or Alsace-Lorraine was my grandfather. He died in Cinti. in 1903. I did not know Anna's husband's name. It is a possibility that her maiden name was either Knorr or Stegner since she is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in a plot with Knorr's and Stegner's. There are a lot of Knorr's and some Stegner's who came to the Cinti. area from Pirmasens, Germany. Do you know where in Germany Anna was born? Would love to hear any information you have.
Thanks, Margaret

Margaret--I feel strongly that the Anna Burgoyne you are talking about was also the mother of Jacobine/Jacobina Burgoyne, who was b. 1842 (somewhere in Germany). I have the record of Anna Burgoyne from Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati showing her about 1808-1874, and I do see that she is buried on a lot owned by A. Knorr Stegner, although I do not know who they are. The plot was ordered by A. Knorr M. Burgoyne. Could this be your Michael Burgoyne? She was widowed and had been married to Joseph Burgoyne. Jacobine Burgoyne Schoneberger originally had been buried with Anna on this lot, but was later moved. This is why I think this Anna Burgoyne was the mother of Jacobine. Jacobine's death record at Spring Grove lists her parents as Joseph and Anna Burgoyne. I don't know where they came from in Germany. I didn't know of any other children other than Jacobine Burgoyne Schoneberger. Please post any further info you may have. I hope this helps!

Kelly - Do you have access to "Centennial History of Cincinnati" by Greve? In it is a brief biography of Michael Burgoyne, my grandfather. It says that his father died when he was a baby and his mother came over to the U.S. shortly after with her children but it does not give names. Michael was a very successful blacksmith and became quite wealthy. He lived on Dayton St.in Cinti. Dayton St. was nicknamed "Millionaire's Row" around the turn of the century when he lived there. He died when my mother was a little girl. How are you related to Anna? I have found Anna Michael residing together in the 1866 Cinti. Directory. In the same cemetery plot in Spring Grove there are : Louis Burgoyne, born Germany in 1836,died 1870, parents - Anna B., Anna Burgoyne Knorr, born France in 1839, died 1907, parents - Joseph Anna Burgoyne. I think the A. Knorr was Adam Knorr and M. Burgoyne was my grandfather. I have a list of everyone buried in that plot if you are interested. What do you know about the Schonebergers? This is very interesting to me because we had some very good friends in Cinti. by that name (spelled Schoenberger). Hope to hear from you again.

Hard to believe that your grandfather was born in the 1840s! How old was he when he had your mother? You had stated earlier that you didn't know Anna Burgoyne's husband but you do have it and must not have realized it in the records you posted--it was Joseph Burgoyne. All I know about the Schonebergers is that they definitely spelled their name this way, and Jacobine Burgoyne m. Philip Schoneberger. Good luck!

Kelly - My grandfather was in his 50's when my mother was born and my mother was in her 40's when I was born so it was like skipping a generation. If you learn anything more about the Burgoyne's please let me know.
Thanks!
