Looking for any info on parents and siblings of these two ancestores of mine who were from Co. Antrim.

James was born 12 Aug 1762 and Margaret in May 1763.

After they married they had 3 daughters in Ireland, Martha, Ann, & Margaret and then sailed to America about 1782 reportedly with a family named Adger who may have been related.

They settled in South Carolina, for a while at Charleston. They had 5 more girls and 2 boys who lived past infancy.

Nancy, David, Eliza and Jane where born in Winnsboro, SC followed by Mary, James M. and Susan in Columbia, SC.

Eliza married Robert Waddell about 1830 and they lived in Columbia until they died. Their son James Davis Waddell is my great grandfather.

Robert also came from Ireland, Co. Donegal, arriving in 1820 at Charleston.

I am interested in any info on these families, especially in Ireland. The only other info I have is that they were Seceders and at least the Waddells were Scot-Irish.

I realize I am reaching for straws here, but just maybe you could have something that will help. I am looking for the parents of the Martha Kyle who married Charles Criswell in 1846. He was born in South Carolina. Do you have any birth dates for Margaret and James' children? Another "straw" is that Charles and Martha named a son James Monroe-- after your James M., an uncle? If I am reaching to far here please let me know. But I hope we can connect! Thanks.

James and Margaret Beckett had a daughter Martha who was born in the 1780's in Ireland. They all came to South Carolina. It is unlikely that Martha Kyle is the same person since their daughter was named Martha Beckett. Also, she would have been about 60 years old by the time of the marriage to Criswell. I have no record of a Criswell.
