Samuel DAVIS>louden Co.,VA
Looking for any info on Samuel DAVIS born April 28 1762 in Loudon Co.,VA. Have not been able to locate his parents. He lived in Fauquir Co.,VA in 1790 because he had children born there between 1790 and 1798. He then went to Harrison Co., VA now WV and lived there until he died. He served inthe Revolutionary War. He married his first wife in Winchester VA April 13 1786 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick Co.
Any information would be greatly appreciated as like many of you, I have been searching for many years and this has been my road block.

I have been researching this same line.
What evidence do you have that your Samuel, b 1762 is the son of Samuel and Jane Cook Davis?( I am presuming you are speaking of this couple as parents of JF Davis?) Samuel Emory Davis b 1756 so could not have been father of the above Samuel. Samuel and Jane's son, Samuel, m Lucy Throckmorton.
I believe that your Samuel is brother to Gary Davis who removed to Harrison Co from Loudoun at the same time. Gary b 1763.
Would love to hear your viewpoint. Have been looking for ancestors, Samuel and Gary Davis for a long time.
I am looking for the line of samual Davis from VA,in that time period. He would have been my great grandfather. We have that he married Martha (Walton or Eaton) and had two children Sandford Kelly and Alice. His wife left him when Sandford was 6 mo. old. Martha took Sandford because he was still being breast fed. (this is in my uncles research papers) Samual kept Alice. then the line ends....poof! there is a possibility that his father may have been Solomon. My grandfather would have been Sandford.
the question is where did he go? and where did he come from?
Sampson Samuel Davis married two different Martha's. The Greene County, VA Marriages lists Sampson Davis (son of Elijah and Barbara Davis), age 22, born in Rockingham county. He married Martha Walton, (daughter of "Lipton" & Sally Walton), age 17, born in Albermarle County, on Dec 29, 1870. Tipton was her father's correct name.
Sampson Samuel Davis filed for divorce and it was granted on May 30, 1879. He had custody of their daughter Virginia Alice, but was also granted custody of their son "Sampson" (later listed as Sanford K. in records for the rest of his life). He retained custody of Alice, but she lived with her grandparents in the 1880 census rather than with him and his new wife. He remarried in Nov 1879 after the divorce was final. Sampson/Sanford K. was living with his mother and Henry B. Shiflett in the 1880 census. Martha WALTON and Henry B. didn't marry till 1881.
The marriage date with Martha Eaton was 18 Nov 1879 in Rockingham Co. By looking for Sampson Davis and Martha, you'll find him in Rockingham in the census records now. He didn't go far from Albemarle.
