I am most interested in CRAWFORD/HUNTER folks. Both John Crawford and Samuel Hunter received land grants in Rutherford Co., prior to 1790. George "Washington" Crawford and Mary "Polly" Hunter married in Rutherford Co., in after 1800. There is also a land entry with John Crawford selling land to Washington Crawford shortly after the marriage of Washington Crawford and Polly Hunter. Marriage bond was guaranteed by Samuel Hunter. Later in 1850 George and Mary Crawford are found on the census of Union Co., GA along with Samuel Hunter Crawford living close by. It was a bio about Samuel Crawford that led me back to Rutherford Co. There is also a John Crawford on that same census living near these Crawfords. Need to determine if the John Crawford of Rutherford Co., is the father of George Washington and if Samuel Hunter is the father of Mary.

Also have Evan Jack Watkins and a Philips family that later lived in SC that I am researching. I think both families were in Rutherford Co., and may not have moved but been "moved" by boundary change in 1700s.

Will appreciate any help. Does anyone know of a good researcher who could help me in Rutherford Co?

I'm sorry, but I don't know enough about my Watkins crowd to know if Lettie was a member. I know Evan (Jack) Watkins lived in Rutherford Co., prior to 1800, but I think he moved from there to SC -Spartenburg Dist., and ended up in St. Clair Co., AL. It's possible that he got to SC by virture of a boundary change since that area was disputed for sometime, and I don't know exactly when that was settled or exactly where in SC he was. My ancestor was his daughter Rebecca Watkins.
I've printed your note, and will try to remember to let you know if I find a connection.

Thanks for your reply.

I am searching for info on the family of Lewis Watkins. He and his family lived in St. Clair Co., AL at the same time that Evan Watkins and his family did. Could they have been related? Lewis named his oldest daughter Margaret Phillips Watkins so I felt like there was a Phillips family tied to him. Any information would be appreciated.

My Evan Watkins, had a brother named Philip Watkins who was married to a Margaret Lester him. I don't have a sibling named Lewis listed. If you will send me your e-mail address, I will be glad to e-mail what I have on this family to you. I, like you, feel like there may well be a connection. I just don't know what it is.
