Hello! I am looking for Ellen Margarethe Hansen(Hansdatter?)! She was born in Denmark in the early 1800s, married a Peder Pedersen in Denmark. He died, then she brought the kids to America. I believe she died about 1880 in Manti, I just can't seem to find her. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a bunch!

This may be a "shot in the dark" I have searched a Anna M. Jensen/Jorgansen [born 1826] from Denmark who married a Ole Hansen, had a son. Christian, then came to the USA where she married a Wm North who stated 2 stepsons on the 1880 census Christian and Peter Peterson, they seem to have eventually taken the name of North. Anna and Christian are both buried in Manti cemetery. I'm sure this isn't the same but a chance as I'm having problems varifying the Peter North I am searching is this one or not.

Sorry, hit the wrong key.
There is an Ellen Margrethe Hansen, widow of Peder Pedersen in my family tree.

My Ellen was the 2nd wife of Jens Pedersen Marcher (spelled Marker in America) and accompanied him to Utah from Bornholm Denmark in 1852/53. The information that I have is:
Ellen Margrethe Hansen was born in 1802 in Bornholm, Denmark. Ellen married Jens Pedersen Marcher on 7 April 1849. She was a widow with 9 children by Pedersen. After converting and joining the Mormon church, Jens and Ellen Marcher left Ostermarie, Bornhold, Denmark in 1852, with his son Peter Marcher and her daughter Helene Kirstine Pedersen and sailed to America to settle in Utah. Ellen died January 12, 1879 and is buried in Manti, Utah. I'm not sure but I don't believe she and Jens had children.

The info I have is from a non-published family history and it includes more about the emigration, Bornholm, and family charts but oriented to the ancestry of Jens Pedersen Marker. The account was put together some time before 1980 by a cousin named Adda Deem Wells and was sent to my grandmother. If you want a copy I can xerox it.

Hi Julie,

I, too, have Ellen Hansen in our family tree....yes, she and your Ellen are one and the same. Wondering if you might share what Adda sent your grandmother....in return, I would love to share what research I have, if you're interested.

My husband, Jim Marker, s/o Floyd Marker who was the s/o James Peter Marker, who was the son of Peder Jensen Marcher, who was the s/o of Hans Petersen (?)

I've found a first hand account of Jens and Ellen's trip from Copenhagen to England to New Orleans and across the plains, it's very interesting!

Sure, I'd be happy to send you a copy Betty. Were you by any chance at the Marker Family Reunion in Boise about 2 or 3 summers ago? I did pass out some copies there. Send me your mailing address privately to <inky_quill@hotmail.com> and I'll post it off to you. Its got a run down on the voyage of the Forest Monarch from Bornholm and relationship charts that go back in Bornholm about 150 or 200 years if I remember correctly.

HI, I hope this hasn't been too long since you posted your message. My husband is a descendant of Soren Pedersen (Samuel Petersen) who was one of Margarethe's sons from her first marriage, but until we were in Denmark and found information on them all emigrating we didn't know anything about her and Jens Marcher, we knew they had married, but didnt know they had lived in Manti.
We have been interested in any information on her after coming here, or any pictures that anyone might have.
Would be glad to share any information we have, but it would be on the Pedersen's not the Marchers.
Thank you for any help you may be able to give us.

Talk about a shot in the dark...I'd like to find someone who is related to the above two men. Their father's name was Christian. They were in the Wisconsin area probably not too far from Appleton, Shiocten, Bovina area. My Curtis family/Tabor family settled in that area and my grandmother Mildred Curtis had boxes of photographs and amongst them there is a photo of the two young men and a fancy new looking car. Very nice photo and I'd love for someone to be able to use it. Morgan was born in Dec 1891 and Howard was born April 1895. Would be happy to find a home for this photograph.
