Seeking info on the family of Henry Sayler (1782-1854) and his wife Mary Elizabeth Kepner. The couple were natives of Pennsylvania, but migrated to Marion Co. OH where they both died. They had children: Jacob (b.1806), Benjamin (b.1807), Isaac (b.1809), John (b.1810), Micah (b.1812), Henry (b.1814), Samuel (b.1816), Caroline G. (b.1819), Mary E. (b.1821), Simon P. (b.1823), Sarah A. (b.1824), Barnhart (b.1828), and Lewis (b.1830). In addition to Henry & Mary Elizabeth, I'm also interested in info on their son Lewis Sayler who eventually settled in Jasper Co. Indiana.

In my searches I found LDS records saying that Henry Sayler was a son of a Jacob Sayler and he in turn was a son of another Jacob Sayler from Lancaster Pa. And that he had a brother Daniel Sayler . I havent had time to check this out and you know how unreliable those records are. I, myself am a descendant of Daniel. I was just wondering if you may have checked this out.

My wife, Cindy's grandfather (Ray Sayler) was Barnhart Sayler's grandson. Cindy has some limited information from her great aunt (Fern Sayler, Ray's sister) of the family history. We are also starting to do some research ourselves.

I'm a descendant of Jacob Sayler l and have just begun to delve into the piles of geneology records that someone in my family has assembled over the last 50 years. My records jibe with yours: Daniel Sayler b. ?, Jacob Sayler l b. 1708 (had a brother Daniel), Jacob Sayler ll b. 1737, Henry Sayler b. 1782, etc. I would be happy to share the information I have with anyone interested. I have bios on Jacob ll and his grandson Barnhart that are interesting. Also have some info on a Sayler family bible printed in 1609 which only direct descendants with the Daniel Sayler name are allowed to keep.I'm looking for more information on Jacob ll and will share what I find .

I am still searching for my Sayler link. My 3x-great-grandfather was Jonathan Sayler. According to most census records, he was born about 1827 in Maryland. In 1850, he was living in Vigo Co. Indiana and was a shoemaker. By 1860, he had moved downriver to Gibson Co. Indiana. There, on April 7, 1861, he married Miss Martha A. Massey, the daughter of Henry Massey & Frances Maupin. The young couple eventually had three children - all born in Gibson Co. IN - John Barnum (b.1863), May F. (b.1865), and Henry B. (b. 1867). Sometime between 1870 and 1880, the family moved west to Galena, Kansas (Cherokee Co.). There, Jonathan worked as a miner and seemed also to run a boarding house. By 1890, the Jonathan and his wife had moved again and were in Fort Smith, Arkansas where it appears they may have run another boarding house. Jonathan died shortly afterwards. His wife is listed in city directories as a widow in 1896. I truly have no clues yet as to Jonathan's family of origin. I descend from his oldest son John Barnum Sayler. If you have any information that may help connect my Jonathan Sayler with his family of origin, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to email me directly.

I have a Daniel Sayler listed on our pedigree chart as being born in 1708 in Switzerland. I have that he married Hannah Garber. I am decsended from their son, Christian Sayler (b 1742 Lancaster Co, PA), his son, Daniel Sayler (b 1770 Lancaster Co, PA), who married Barbara Raitt & had a John Sayler (b 1800 Preble Co, OH), who married a Catharine Riner & had Nelson Sayler (b 1833 Preble Co, OH). Nelson Sayler would be my gggrandfather. If you can find any connections here, please let me know! Thanks.

My error on the birthdate of Jacob Sayler in previous posting. Jacob Sayler, brother of Daniel, who was born in 1708, was born in 1715 in Switzerland. According to the Sayler Family Website that traces descendants of Daniel, they came to America together sometime prior to 1727. That website has a lot of interesting information that would apply to you as a descendant of Daniel. Thanks for the reply.
