Thank you so much, Barry, for replying so quickly. Now can you answer this question?

I have William Brooks Leach (1765-1853) married to two other women. In 1790, I have William married to Sarah Emily Barnes(abt 1765-????) with 10 children. I also have him married to Dianna Howard (nndates) on Feb. 15, 1916. If this be true then Jane Taylor would be his second wife.

Can you verify this or am i really on the wrong William Brooks Leach?????????

You are 100% correct. William Brooks Leach married at least three times. Here are the wives I have. (There might be more!) FYI, all of my LEACH FAMILY information below comes from Rootsweb.com. There are at least 20 WorldConnect databases posted there covering William Brooks Leach. (Go to Rootsweb.com and enter Brooks Leach in their search engine. All of my LEACH FAMILY information comes from Rootsweb.com and from census records. There are at least 20 WorldConnect databases at Rootsweb.com covering William Brooks Leach b. Abt. 1865 Maryland. Please understand these are not my ancestors, and, as such, I do not keep detailed records of my sources. Sorry, but I leave that heavy lifting to bona fide relatives.

I don't think Richard Leach 1809 is the son of William B. Leach that was married to Sarah E. Barns. His parents are William and Jane Leach but this William is a different person. There are William Leach's listed in the early Ohio County Census that cannot be accounted for yet. Acording to Marinda Cox Leach born 1807, died 1859 death listing in the Kentucky Death index 1852 to 1952 her parents was William B.and Sahah Leach. This William probably would not have married Jane Taylor in 1804 while he was married to Sarah Barns. I don't think William B. Leach that was married to Sarha E. Barns was married but twice. 1th to Sarah E. Barns who died about 1813 then he married Diana Howard about 1815.

I know lots of people have him married several more times.

Thanks for you insights. Sure wish we had more details about William and Jane Leach – the parents of Richard Leach 1809 - 1854. Unfortunately, we may never know Richard’s true parents. Meanwhile, I’ve changed my database to reflect William Brooks Leach 1765 – 1853 as a POSSIBLE FATHER of Richard Leach 1809 - 1854. In light of Marinda (Leach) Cox’s 1807 – 1859 death information, your position that her father, William B. Leach 1765 – 1853, married ONLY TWICE is looking pretty solid. Finally, you list William B. Leach’s second wife as DIANA HOWARD (They married 1815.) How confident are you about this wife's name being DIANA HOWARD? Again, thanks for your insights. Well done!

She was Diana Atherton, first marriage was to a Howard with one child that William named in his will as stepdaughter.

William B. Leach married Diana Howard 2-15-1815 Ohio County Marriage Index book A page 21.

Also Jesse Green Leach in the 1852 to 1952 Ohio County Death Index list his parents as James S. and Rebecca Leach his death Apr 16 1878, born in 1825 acording to the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Ohio County Census. I have Rebecca as Rebecca Raley some say she was Rebecca Taylor. Again the Ohio County Marriage Index list her as Rebecca Raley, Marriage 12-25-1823 Book A page 50.
I know this is not what many people have, but I have never believed he was the son of William B. Leach and Jane Taylor. Jesse Green Leach is my gggrandfather on my mothers side.
I am always open to changes that can be proved.

In the Ohio County Records book, vol 1, there is a copy of William's will. It says the will is on page 130 of the original will book and it is listed as the will of William B. Leach. It named sons Joseph, John,
Talbott, William, step-daughter Susan Howard, daughters Polly (Mary) Peak, Nancy Leach, Sally (Elizabeth) Iler, Ellen Leach, and Marinda (Susannah Maranda) Cox. the will was written Oct 9, 1834, revised on Jan 26, 1844 and probated on Mar 07, 185

I have Diannah listed as an Athernon. In William's will he lists his step-daughter Susan Howard, there Diannah must have been married before she married William.
