Researching Richard Cressey, born Gibraltar 1803 British Subject.
Five children, all born England / Scotland 1834 - 1853.
Possibly died 1877.
Lived in Accrington area of Lancashire from 1840's.
Can find no records for Gibraltar.
Can find no wife.

Thank you so much for your response.
I have Googled Gibraltar Records for Richard Cressey (who was born 1803 I believe) - but am not finding any record of him at all. English Censuses do, nevertheless, say that he was born on Gibraltar. Neither can I find any wife.
His five children were all born in Scotland and/or England between 1834 and 1853.
It all seems something of a (frustrating !) mystery.

Surnames:
Any children born after 1837 would probably have birth certificates, these would give the mother's name. Obviously a marriage would have to be in Parish Registers not civil BMD but if you get the earliest BC possible it might be that you could find a marriage in a church register at the same place, or as he seems to have been around Lancashire you could just search that area, or the area in Scotland where you know the children were born.
