I am searching for the place of burial for my great grandmother Caroline Cady (Cadey) Smith, wife of Thomas J. Smith. It is said that she died in (near) Berlin, Wisconsin about 1863-1864. She was prepared for burial by a friend.
We have no idea if she was buried on the family land near Berlin or at a cemetery. I contacted the Oakwood Cemetery and they say she isn't buried there. Can anyone help me find when and where she is buried?

Sometimes the only way to find where an early death is buried is to find obits for spouses and unmarried kids or kids who died early into a marriage. Often they will say laid to rest next to their husband, parents, etc... She could easily be buried at the cemetery that says she isn't, an 1863-64 death is very early for Wisconsin, and records and tombstones are often lost/destroyed.
