I think the man you found is named August Edward Anderson.
So maybe not Edward Anderson.

Thank you for the tip.

I've got reply today and now follow the question how I can find the children (or perhaps grandchildren).

The best I can come up with is August Edward Anderson's obituary which appeared in the Stillwater, Minnesota Daily Gazette on Wedensday October 14, 1942 -- and it reads:

August E. Anderson Dies after long illness.

August Edward Anderson passed away Oct. 13, 1942 after a long illness. He was born April 16, 1860 in Sweden and came to Stillwater 63 years ago. He was married to Ida Erickson April 17, 1900.

Surviving him are his wife and five daughters; Mrs. Elmore Olson of Chatfield, Minn.; Mrs. Elvin Johnsrud of Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Harry Swanson, Mildred and Alphie all of Stillwater.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm from the Jones Funeral Home. Rev. C.E. Benson will officiate. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery.

I hope this helps you on your search.

It is possible that is the same man. Or not. Although the birthday is a month different and the name is a little different.
Maybe finding the family could help, especially if you have a picture of him.

His daughters Mrs. Harry Swanson (?), Mildred Anderson and Alphie Anderson were all still living in Stillwater. Maybe there is an obituary for his wife, at a later date when she died, and for his daughters in Stillwater at the Historical society there. I gave you that address earlier.

For the other daughters:

Mrs. Elmore Olson of Chatfield, Minnesota,
The historical society for her would be

FILLMORE COUNTY HISTORY CENTER
202 County Road 8
1 Block East of Jct. US 52 and County Road 8
Fountain, MN 55935
507-268-4449
Fax: 507-268-4492

The town of Chatfield also has a historical society
Chatfield Historical Society
President: Nancy Mc Mahan
R.R. 1
Chatfield, MN 55923

Because I think Chatfield the town is right on the line between two counties, Olmsted and Fillmore.

I think I found the death for the son-in-law Elmore Olson in Olmsted county, on the Minnesota death index.
OLSON, ELMORE S.
Date of Birth: 20 Aug 1898
Place of Birth: MINNESOTA
Mother Maiden Name: LARSON
certid# 1962-MN-013721

Date of Death: 28 Aug 1962
County of Death: OLMSTED

Maybe an obituary for him would give children's names.
Chatfield is on the line by Olmsted county.

The 1900 census shows the Edward Anderson from Stillwater says he came to the USA in 1881 and became a naturalized citizen in Pa. Pennsylvania? That would mean he probably spent his first 5 years at least in Pennsylvania. And the birthday is shown as April 1860.

There is a man on the 1885 census that might be your Edward.
He is born 1860, Oakdale is near Stillwater. The family his is living with is Irish though. Not related.

Name: Edward Anderson
Residence: Oakdale, Washington, Minnesota
Age: 25 years
Estimated Birth Year: 1860
Birthplace: Sweden
Race: White
Gender: Male
Family Number: 112

Edward Anderson M 25y

There is also this Swedish Ed Anderson, born 1860, living in Stillwater in 1885, who might be working in the Lumbering business because the place he lives is full of men who are in their 20's and 30's.

Hi Katarina,

I have found some information about this Anderson family that you are researching.

Edna married Elmore Olson
Adine married Harry Swanson
Frances married Henrik Elvin Johnsrud
Mildred and Alphie didn't marry

All five daughters are deceased but there were children from the marriages.

I have also found a person who has a family tree posted on Ancestry with this family recorded. I will contact you off board with more details.
