Family Tree Maker's older CD's by Broderbund what do with?

I have many many old Family Tree Maker's CD's by Broderbund that could be read with Family Archive Viewer for Windows or Macintosh. As of today these can not be read at all. What do I do with all my older CD's. Many are CD's of books, census and vital records from different states.

thisismyline,

What changed on your PC where all of a sudden you can't open them. The FAV will work.

What format are the files in? Do they have a suffix indicating the format (.pdf, .jpg, .ged)? Because Macs can read PC files (whereas PCs often can't read Mac files).

It's just a matter of figuring out which program to use to open the files.

ejg,

I do NOT think that the Family Archive CDs can be read on a Mac. There is a Windows program, Family Archives Viewer that will open them.

Don't think you can open these files on a Mac.

Please remember, that most of the data on these FACDs are now Online.

Irene,

I went back to your original message, are you saying that your Windows PC will not open those FACD's with FAV? If not, what happens, exactly?

What version of Windows are you using?

(not the Mac)

I use to have PC windows 85 and XP, don't have it anymore. Been about three years since I used the CD's. Am moving again so have to get rid of my CD's since I can't use them. Most of the CD's are now online. Thanks for helping anyway. irene

thisismyline,

Have you considered offering them to a local genealogy society, Family History Center, library?
