Do you know where they settled when they left Ireland. I am trying to find the descendants of my Garrity line. They left Kingston, Ontario,Canada around 1871. Not sure if they remained in Canada or headed for the US.
Catherine McQuaid was born 1838 in Ireland and her huband John GARRITY was born in 1838 - place unknown. They were married Aubust 1, 1854 at St. Mary's Cathedral Church in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Their children were:
Richard b: Aug. 14, 1855
Martin b: May 3, 1857
Mary Anne b: Feb. 1, 1859
Catherine GARRITY b: Feb. 19, 1863

I have grandparents who lived in Glasgow. Martin and Sarah Garrity. probably born around 1910. Martin's parents were Patrick and Mary and he had 8 brothers and 1 sister, Mary. They were all from Sligo, near Mayo I believe. Mary's maiden name was Gouldin or Golding. a lot of Martin's relatives moved to florida as far as i know and some to texas???
The name was originally Geraghty. Martin and Sarah moved to Canada in the 1970's and had three children in Glasgow between 1937-1949.

Dear Paddy

My maiden name is Garrity. I was born in Greenock in 1956 and have lived in London since the mid 60's.

My father was Richard, born 1913, son of Martin, who was killed at Arras when he was 27 and my dad was only four.
My great grandparents were called Patrick and Mary. But I never knew names of my grandfather's siblings.
I'm sure we're related!

Would love to share more!

Kindest regards
Marie Lane
