Hello,
I wondered if anyone had any information about the family of
Sam McAllister who was killed at the Battle of Derrynamuck in 1799 .

Sam McAllister was a brother of my GGGG Grandmother Mary McAllister (born about 1775).

She married Hugh Breen from County Armagh in about 1800.

All the information I have seen says that Sam came from County Antrim - so I believe Mary may have been born there.

I found a web site that said that Sam McAllister's mother (whose name I would love to find out) died in Dublin.
Unfortunately I lost the URL and can't find it on any search engines.

Does anyone have any more information about this family?

Thanks,
A. O'Brien,
Australia

There is a McAllisters restaurant in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow which is named after Sam McAllister and has some historical notes on display inside. I'll have a look next time I am over that way or you could write to them. It is part of Quinn's public house in the main Square in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.
