1861 census help please

Surnames: Tudor, John, Jones
I'm having difficulty tracing several branches of my family in the 1861 census. I know that the records for Welsh St Donats are missing, which explains why I can't find some of them, but are the records for Llandyfodwg also lost? I can find William Tudor b. 1822 and his family in the 1851 census, his subsequent emigration to the USA in 1864 and his return to Llandyfodwg in the 1881 census, but where is he in 1861?

Another branch of the family I can't find in 1861 is John John (b. 1814 in Pentyrch)his wife Catherine and family. They are in Llanilltern (with surname Jones) in 1851 and then in Llantrisant for the 1871-1901 censuses, but again I can find no trace of them in 1861.

Hope someone can shed some light on this, it's been driving me mad.

Montgomeryshire is nowhere near Welsh St. Donats or Llantrisant, so I'd say that both of those were quite unlikely.

Have you tried searching for a different surname spelling i.e. Tudur?
