My direct line is from Hodges Council to Robert (1831-) > John Wesley Council (1865)> Hattie A. Council Hill, my grandmother. Her name appears on the new Ellis Island Wall of Honor representing the Council line from England. If any of this branch is familar e-mail: Iris08@aol.com

My lineage is with Hodges Council, also. He narried Lucy Hardy.

I am in DAR using James Council from Bladen County, North Carolina. I have photos of the Council cemetery in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

What do you need or want to know? I have the book "Hodges Council of Virginia and Descendants". written by Justin Council.

I have a lot of information about my direct lineage. Willing to share.

Betty,
Thanks for replying to my inquiry. My grandmother, Hattie Council Hill from Menard Co., IL, was from the Hodges Council lineage. I also have the same book by Judson Council. Note on pg. 55/7GA is Robert Council. His son was John Wesley Council,
Hattie's father.
I would be happy to exchange data. I would also be interested in the Council Cemetery
photos. Please contact me at: IRIS08@
AOL.COM. Thanks in advance!

I have a print-out of the Council, North Carolina cemetery.....there are less than 50 marked graves...I am sure some are not marked...I have photos of a lot of the grave sites...actually on the 2nd. trip I probed until I found David Council's head stone(1757 or 1752-1827). His wife was Celia Smith(1760-1808 or 1810). I think , not positive, that some of the headstones in this cemetery were placed there by the local DAR or others.. Records show some of the graves were not marked at the time of Judson Council's writing of the book.

I also have been to Isle of Wight County and photographed the cemetery there. This is the cemetery where Hodges Council is recorded to be buried . It is on the acerage where the Hodges Council home was located. We used a map from somewhere to locate the cemetery. I found an old ceramic door knob from this site. There are still remnants of the chinney from where the home originally stood. This farm was planted in peanuts when my brother, husband and I visited in 1994......keep in touch and we will share....bcr

Betty,
The description of the cemeteries sound fascinating. We lived in VA a while and unaware at that time that Isle of Wight was where I should've visited. Please send me your e-mail and keep in touch! Eager to share. SUSAN
