Surnames: Forsman, Veravada
John and/or Amanda from Finland. Have heard their original last name was Veravada but changed when got to the states to Forsman. Unsure of the spelling. Came from Minnesota and settled in Mississippi. Any info would be great. This is about all I have to go on.

Was your John a John Victor Forsman son of Maj-Elise Nyman and Nicholas Nygard?

Hi, Thank you so much for responding.
I think it is assumed that John's middle name was Frank. Not much is known about my great grandparents. But what we do know is that they came over around first of century. Was told that their original name was Veravada, though not sure of spelling and it was changed to Forsman when they got here. Don't think they came through Ellis Island. I was told they came down St. Lawrence River from Minnesota and my family settled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
When I do have more time I want to research this.
Thanks again!
