Surnames: WEYER
I have two prayer books I'd like to see go back to a family member. They aren't dated and are in very delicate condition. My guess is that they are from the 1880's or so.
One belonged to Mary Francis WEYER, Sandusky, Erie Co. Ohio and the other to Lana WEYER of Sandusky. Lana's book is in quite poor condition, while Mary Francis' is starting to deteriorate as well. Included in the pages are color biblical drawings. Both books are in German.

If Mary Francis or Lana are in your tree, please email me.

Hi Carol,
It is nice of you to try and get the prayer books back into the family. I am not related to this Weyer family, but I have researched all of the Weyer families in America. Lana and Mary F. Weyer were the daughters of Mathias and Elizabeth Weyer. In the 1880 census Mathias is listed as living in Margaretta, Ohio which was near Erie. He has a daughter named Lana who was 16 and a daughter named Mary F. who was 11. Looking at the rootsweb site I see a posting for Mathias and information there states that Lana (Magadalena) later married a Gustin Kromer. Mary F. (Frances) died in 1891 and no spouse was listed. I recomend emailing the person who submitted the information to Rootsweb and seeing if he can help you connect up with a descendant of this branch of the Weyer family. You can email him at gentner@mac.com You can look at his family tree by going to ancestry.com and typing in Mathias Weyer. I think there is about 8 of them but only one mentions a wife Elizabeth and I think it states that Mathias was born in 1827. The census lists his age at 52 which is about right and states he was from Baden. If I can be of any further assistance just ask.

Thank you, Andy, for the info about the Weyers. I really appreciate all the trouble you went to in order to get me this information. It's must appreciated. Maybe the books will finally get back to their family!

Best wishes,
Carol

Hi Carol,
Two more bits of information. I meant to say Magaretta was in Erie County, Ohio not near Erie, Ohio. Secondly a quick check of the Genforum web site brought up a gal looking for information on Mathias Weyer. Her email address is irace8@hotmail.com
Good Luck
Andy

Thank you for reply...

If you cannot find any home for them. Then I would be happy
to treasure them... after all, before Luther, all our families
were Catholic or Heathens... ha.

Best Wishes

Mathias Weyer was my maternal great-great grandfather. His son Edward was my great grandfather. My mother Rose Ann Weyer Bower is doing work on the family tree and I met last week with Dorothy Weyer, who would be a niece of the two ladies who owned the prayer books. Her father had a house across the tracks from Mathias' home at Weyer Station. I live in Sandusky, Ohio; 5 to 10 minutes from the Margaretta area that was the families' early, and present homes. It would be interesting to see the books. Thanks for posting. Chuck Bower

I am looking for information on Mathias Weyer. I have also found information on Mary Weyer. Do you still have the books. If so, please e-mail me and let me know what you want for them and where you are from. Maybe I can pick them up from you. Thanks
