Family folklore says a Walby ancestor named di Waldi or di Waldebi was originally from Tuscany, Italy. As a member of the Roman army, he travelled across the Alps and settled somewhere in Germany. I have been able to trace our line back three generations to Sebastian Walby (b 1841) from Urspringen, Germany and eight generations directly to Balthasar Wallpe (b 1665) from Bregenz, Austria. Any help getting farther back, or providing details about Sebastian's lineage is much appreciated.

I found a page that was posted with information that I question. I am in Cincinnati. I might have some clarifying information. I don't know who wrote the page.
