Anyone know if there was a Marshall Plantation in St. Mary Parish? Do anyone have a listing of the plantations in St. Mary Parish?

Could you, please, tell us who owned the St. Mary Parish plantations that you named?
Thanx,

What was the name of the "wealthy New York family" who bought Oaklawn plantation from Mrs. Porter and her family in the late 1800's ? They used it as a winter home. This was previous to Capt. Barbours ownership.
My husbands grandmother came to St Mary Par. with this family.

I do appreciate your efforts.
The names above are from Staatsburg New York, and I wonder if they are in the group? They came to St Mary for the winter.
Thanks
Beryl

The Pages on the bill of sale from the widow Porter were missing from the court house records. It was bought by a N.Y. Corp. owned by 3 men in 1881. I did find that much out and had 4 or 5 owners before Capt. Barbour bought it.

Will try to find out more on Monday.

I am Capt. Clyde Barbour's niece. In fact, the last Barbour of that era. Guess you have seen and read the book by Lucille Barbour Holmes but it does not say, to my memory, about any owner besides Porter. If you have not seen the book I will search for it and read it again. B. Hebert
