you could look in the white pages for Mitchigan - there appears to be a few - with an unusual name like this - its very possible they are relations

Lilla Huis was my great-aunt (I never met her, but there is correspondence between her and my father with her address on it). She was born as stated on 23/11/1889 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England of Scottish parents, David Adam and Marion (nee Glen), who hail from Ayrshire in Scotland. She was the 8th of 13 children and the names I know are Lilla Lavinia W Adam.

Several of the siblings emigrated to Detroit after the Great War because there were better employment prospects in the US. My understanding is that she married relatively late a man called Ernst G Marsh, and P(eter) Huis was her second husband. From that I can only speculate that she didn't have children of her own, although she mentions step-daughters Jeanette and Vin.

I hope that helps your research. Just one final thing - another record marks her date of death as being 1/1/1982. Which is the correct one?

Dear Mrs. Adam,

I just found this email in my spambox; luckily I didn't delete it.

I didn't pursue my search for more information about Lilla because I got no answer from the proper local authorities in the US. I know that Lilla lived in Florida at the end of her life; I thougth Clearwater. I have to look it up to be sure.

About the House or Huis family:
Jeannette Evelina van den Berg is the twin sister of my great grandfather's brother Israel van den Berg. She married Peter Johan Huis (Peter John House)
I still haven't found where the 2 met eachother in the Netherlands but I guess Rotterdam.
They got 3 children of whom I died as a baby. To keep it simple the called the boy Peter and the girl Jeannette(Jeanet)
I'm still curious if any descendants of Jeannette or Peter are still living in the US; there aren't many left after 1945 in the Netherlands.

I will look up the information I have of Lilla.

Kindest regards,

Peter van den Berg
