Any time frame for leaving Ireland? You are on the
Clare County message board or were they from Clare?
Did they marry before leaving Ireland, any children and where were they born and when if you know.

There is an Irish History Foundation, not for profit but fee paying that Clare is not a a member of. You can also search for a marriage as you have both names so you can search ALL Ireland with both names. A marriage record only gives both of their Father's
but also place/parish and county. All important for searching.

I believe Ancestry has RC parish records and also
www.familysearch.org (you have to look down the side on the main page and find UK/Ireland, click, follow that page down to Ireland.

1850's Griffith Valuations are available on two sources
free:

www.failteromhat.com (simple version, name parish and townland. Good for matching up Parish's with the two different names.

www.askaboutireland.ie a detailed source with Poor Law Union, Parish and townland as well as property descriptions with detail.

RC or Protestant. I have Church of Ireland/Protestant marriages from 1845-1862. Anything after 1864 you should be able to find on www.familysearch.org

Hi Annette -- thanks so much for responding.
John J. O'Connor was born 1855 in Tralee, County Kerry Ireland and died 14 December 1931 in Stamford, Connecticut USA. Julia Clarke, his wife, was born in 1857 in County Clare and died 22 June 1912 in Stamford, Connecticut. I don't know when they left Ireland or when they were married, unfortunately. They had the following kids, all born and died in Stamford Connecticut: Mary A. O'Connor born 1877, died 8 May 1940; Mamie O'Connor born Feb. 1878; Ellen (Nellie) M. O'Connor, born May 1879, died 5 December 1929; John Clarke O'Connor, born 5 May 1880, died 26 June 1935; Julia F. O'Connor, born 1882, died 17 December 1943; Delia O'Connor, born August 1884; James T. O'Connor born Feb 1886, died 22 May 1912.
They were Roman Catholic.
Thank you for pointing me in the direction of those resources -- I will check them out!

Co. Kerry church records are on the website
www.irishgenealogy.ie (this one is free) You will have to pass on Co. Clare.

I would suggest that they may not have married in Ireland as they are from different counties, usually people met and married in their own parish's or at least close by, meeting through family etc. Townies could meet and belong to several parish same with people visiting in a town. Co. Clare and Co. Kerry are across the water from each other
or you would need to travel through Limerick. Not saying it can't be done.

I would try the Foundation anyway it will cost you 5Euro to find out if they married in Ireland. That is $6.59 US today.
Which has to be the best exchange rate in years.

Here are a couple more free resources:
www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom+Ireland+County
www.igp-web.com + County (good info but depends on county)
www.from-ireland.net

www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie where you will find
the Tithe records, 1820-1839. You will probably find
John J. O'Connors grandparents, as too early for his father.
Same would apply for Julia.

Good luck. Annette
