Do have any dates to work off of?

I did find Genevieve Marie Goguens obituary. And her ancestry goes WAY back. I can tie her Legere line into my own tree.

Do you know approx when she married John James, any siblings he had etc.

MacPHERSON, Genevieve Margaret - 83, 71 Standish St., Amherst, died May 14, 1999, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst/ Born in Cap Pele, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Legere) Goguen. She worked as a pastry cook. She most enjoyed vacationing within Canada to visit family and friends. Surviving are daughters, Bonnie, Peggy, Cathy, Gloria; sons, Robert, Sandy, Jerry, Grant; sisters, Yvonne Akrom, Eileen Simmons; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John James MacPherson; sister, Norma; brothers, Lionel, Gerald. At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place followed by private family service and burial. Donations to the palliative care unit of Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Arrangements entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst.

Found a Delayed Birth Registration for

John James MacPherson
B: sep 20 1911 in Amherst, Cumberland Co. NS

mother: Catherine MacPherson (White)

At time of registration by Catherine in 1946, she listed John Sr. already deceased. She was still residing in Amherst herself.

I found a marriage record for Catherine A. McPherson (Note spelling of surname)
on Dec 26 1914 in Amherst, Cumberland co. NS.
She is listed as 38 (puts birth c.1876) born in Springhill, NS.
Daughter of Roderick McPherson & Jane?

she married Benjamin White age 46, widower.

I find this interesting as the John James MacPherson, had mother Catherine MacPherson White listed. Something to keep in mind however. Even though says she is a spinster, but John James mother says married at time of birth. Its possible.

Also interesting due to the names Rodercik & Jane.

You can view it here,

Also a death record for RODERICK MCPHERSON
age 67, widower
Blacksmith
Born in Pictou. Co c:1841
died: Oct 2 1908 in Springhill, NS
