REuben NORTON bought a number of acres in Oconto County in 1858. Mary NORTON was born in Oconto County on November 22, 1880. Was she related to Reuben? Who were her parents. She married Leonard Steffen in Oconto on April 20 1898. Her obiturary (d. January 7, 1943) says she had 3 surviving sisters; Mrs Arthur Casson and Mrs. Ben Drasen both from Marinette and Mrs. Tena Swaer from Little Suamico.
Any information on this family would be appreciated.

Hi Wendy,

Yes Jessie was Rueben Samis father, I also have that same information that you have, according to the Vital record office in Amador County Ruebens father was Jessie but I have found no info on him yet. Ruebens mothers name was Tuna maiden name was Vose/Samis/Baglioni and her mothers maiden name was Dent. I have alot on her side but not my Reuben's father Jessie.

Re VOSS surname. Seems amazing that a Dan F Samis and brother have same mother's name. What is the story with this "Tuna" ? Is it short for "Petunia"? I 'd like to check out the names she went by. Somehow these Samis' are connected. I also found the following-but the dates say it's yet, another Jessie:
April 1, 1882, Vol. 23, No. 29
MARRIED.At Sutter Creek, March 27, 1882, by Rev. E. E. Dodge, Mr. Jesse
Samis of Mt. Echo, to Mrs. Josephine Calf of Sutter Creek.

Hi Wendy,

I have a correction to make Rueben's wife was Tuna Vose/Samis/Baglioni, I have found information in the Daughters of the GoldenWest Project, and I have that line going way back, can't remember exactly the dates and times but I do have that.Tuna's fathers name was John Gilbert Vose arrived in California 1856 on the Vessel Via Isthmus to San Francisco and he was born in Monteville, Maine March 19,1837 and he died in Fiddle town and married Annie Dent Vose in 1864 in Placerville, Calif. sorry if my error caused any confussion. I am also currios about the name Tuna if find out anything on that let me know.
