I have his family history that dates back to 9/10/1683 when his 1st ancestor in this country named Captain Edmond du Chastel de Blangerval was an immigrant ancestor of the Casteel family in America. The Captain arrived in Philadelphia took the oath of allegiance to the proprietor, William Penn on 9/10/1683. The founder of the du Chastel, or van der Casteel family, ws Gilles du Chastel, conseiller to Louis, County of Flanders. Anyways, I have family line that directly lead to me. So if interested please contact me cause I am wanting more on his descendent that went to the Civil War and that was 7 generations later. So if anybody can help me please e-mail me.

Among some papers I have is one that refers to Edmond du Chastel de Blangerval (something like that). I have no idea where it came from, but perhaps you would like to hear what it said.

Barbara please send me the papers that you are talking about because I am directly related to him. I am 11 generations directly under him. His correct name according to my aunt is as follows:
Captain Edmond du Chastel de Blangerval, he was a member of a distinguished Flemish family, and he was the immigrant ancestor of the Casteel family in America. He arrived in Philadelphia and took the oath of allegiance to the proprietor, William Penn on Sept. 10, 1683. The founder of the du Chastel, or van der Casteel family, was Gilles du Chastel, conseiller to Louis, Count of Flanders. Gilles died in 1403. Captain Edmond du Chastel appears to have married Christian Boude or boone, in 1693. She was the daughter of a Swedish immigrant. Captain Chastel became a wealthy merchant in Philadelphia. He also engaged in the lucrative business of privateering and during Queen Ann's War in 1707, was given command of the sloop "Resolution", under letters of marque to prey upon French and Spanish commerce. Then they begat 2 sons Samuel Edmund II and 1 daughter Christian. Then Edmund Casteel, II is my direct link and he married Johanna and they had 2 sons Edmund III and Meshack and Edmund III is my direct link. Then Edmund Casteel III married Rebecca Casteel and they had 5 children Shadrack, Abednego, Francis, Lucy and Kezia so Shadrack is my direct link. So then Shadrack Casteel married Laurena and they had 5 children: Thomas, Archibald, Ezedock, Jesse and Elizabeth and Thomas is my direct link. Then Thomas Casteel married Sarah Ann and they had 10 children but I only the names of 4 of them and they were: Thomas, Jeremiah, Shadrack and Nathaniel. So Shadrack is my direct link. Shadrack born 1780) married Elizabeth and they had 9 children: Archibald, Elizabeth, Meshack, John, Jeremiah, Rebecca, Thomas, Nathaniel and Jesse. So Jesse is my direct link.

Jesse Casteel married Nancy and they had 11 children and they were: Archabald, Thomas, Sarah, Mary, John, Jane, Elizabeth, Margaret, Lou, Amanda Ezedock. Thomas is my direct link and he was born on 3/20/1845 and I have Civil War and marriage paperwork on him. Anyways, Thomas married Susan and they had 10 children. They were: Charles, William, Anna, Grace, Della, Robert, Thomas C., Ada, Molly Mae and Flora. Molly Mae is my direct link and she is my great grandmother. Then Molly Mae Casteel married David H. Thomas and they had 7 children. They were: Sally, Evelyn, Della, Josephine, Alvy, Floetta and Leona. Evelyn A. Thomas is my direct link and she was also my grandmother on my dads side. Then Evelyn got married to John Bernadine Clark (my grandfather) and they had 6 children. They were: Jack, Miles, Larry, Lynwood, Loralli and Lowell. Miles Clark is my direct link and he married Maxine Burke and these are my parents. They had four children and they were: Beverly, Brenda, Terry and Melinda. Of course my direct link is Melinda Clark and then each of us got married and now our descendants have begun. I got married to Russell Black and we now have two children. They are Tiffany and Christopher. Tiffany never got married yet but she had two children and they are Emily and Alexander. So I am a daugher, etc. a wife, a grandmother, a niece and a cousin to many people. So please e-mail me the papers that you have found regarding my ancestor Captain

I can't seem to get anything right. I'd be happy to send you what little I have -- it's only one sheet of paper -- but I don't know where to send it. Please write me at Lwarbwar@aol.com or list your e-mail address so I can write you.

Jesse Casteel married Nancy Teets and they had 11 children and they were (Archabald, Thomas, Sarah, May, John, Jane, Elizabeth, Margaret, Lou, Amanda Ezedock). Thomas is my direct link and he was born on 3/20/1845. Thomas then Susan (last name unknown) and they had 10 children and they were (Charles, William, Anna, Grace, Della, Robert, Thomas C., Ada, Molly Mae and Flora)
Molly Mae is my direct link and she was my great-grandmother. Then Molly Mae Casteel married David H. Thomas and they had 7 children. They were (Sally, Evelyn, Della, Josephine, Alvy, Floetta and Leona) Evelyn was my direct link and my grandmother on my dads side and she was the grandmother that just passed away. So Evelyn A. Thomas got married to John Bernadine Clark (my grandfather) and they had 6 children. They were (Jack, Miles, Larry, Lynwood, Loralli Lowell). So Miles Clark is my direct link and he married Maxine Burke (and these are my parents). They had 4 children (Beverly, Brenda, Terry Melinda). Of course my direct link is Melinda Clark (that's me). Each of us kids got married back in 1972-1979. I got married in 1979 to Russell Black from Texas and now as I said we have 2 children and 2 grandchildren but no son-in-laws. Let me know if you have any further questions.
