Howdy! Does everyone know there is an Emert's Cove, Tennessee? It's in Sevier County, near Sevierville and Dollywood (ya-hoo!). There is a family graveyard there, records in the courthouse, and still some Emert's littering the countryside. I passed near there a year ago, but didn't get to stop and look around. Plan to go back in August.
Cheers,
ve

Yes, I know that it is there. The grave of Frederick Emert (who came to the cove from Berks County, Pa) is well marked as are those of some of his family. It is easy to find off Pittman Center Road and there is an historical marker.
By the way, I am still searching for information on the German hometown of Frederick's father Johan Philip Emert. Any help out there?

Hello , I was wondering if you could help me. I am looking for any info about a James Spencer Emert and or his wife Martha Carnes. Their son William Marshall Emert was my husband's grandfather. I believe he is in the same line as Johan and Frederick. I have tried a few other sources (smokykin.com) and others to no avail.
Thanks for your time

Hi Barbara it's me again, I see you haven't checked in here in a while, please look under previous reply for my e-mail add. As for German info, if you have a town name I could possibly help. We just moved back from being in Germany for 3 1/2 yrs. The neighbor of my dear friend Astrid has the last name of Emert. We hope to return in 6-10yrs to live. May visit earlier though.

Hi Victor,

Yes, there are definitely Emerts still littering the countryside in Sevier County. We are having a reunion on September 30, in fact. I live in Ohio but visit my Mom every Thanksgiving and have visited the cemetery in Emert's Cove. It's very interesting. My grandmother was Blanche Emert, d/o John Redman Emert, s/o James D. Emert, s/o Frederick Sanders Emert, s/o Philip Emert,s/o Frederick Emert (Revolutionary War soldier). I do have a list of the Emerts who are known to be buried in Emerts Cove Cemetery, if any one is interested.
