I am searching for information on Elizabeth S. Kirkman. She was born 1/24/1816 in Guilford Co., NC and died 7/28/1865 in Guilford Co., NC. She married Asa M. Hodgin. They were Quaker. Any information on the parents, siblings, etc. of Elizabeth Kirkman would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Debi

Surnames: KIRKMAN
My first Kirkman was Mary b 1765/75 who died in NC. She md Henry or Hendnay Hendricks. Some of that family certainly ended up in Guilford Co., NC. She is dt. of James Kirkman of Maryland. His brothers/sisters are: George, Roger, Comfort, Rosannah, and Ann. James md. Mary (sherwood possibly). They had children: George md Mary Thompson of Guilford 28 Mar 1798. He had been md first to Elizabeth of Maryland; William; Elijah who md Barbara Smith 18 Sep 1799 Guilford; Elisha; my Mary; Thomas Sherwood md Tabitha Fields. He died in 1850 in Randolph Co; and Rodger who md Sarah Wood. Rodger and Sarah had son James b 16 May 1798 Guilford who md Ruhama Fields and d 1876 in Fayette IL. Have more research info that might help you. Jan

Dear Jan,
Thanks for the information on your Kirkmans. I've printed it in hopes that I can someday make a connection. Just to update the information that I have on Elizabeth Kirkman. Last Christmas I was home in NC and found her grave. She is buried with her husband, Asa Hodgin, at Rehobeth Methodist Church in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC. Her tombstone reads, "In memory of Elizabeth wife of Asa Hodgin who died July 28, 1865, aged 49 years, 6 months, 4 days." There are a ton of Kirkmans buried at Rehobeth Methodist Church that must be part of Elizabeth's family. (She and Asa weren't buried with his family-the Hodgins are at Centre Friends Meeting House about 7 miles away.) I feel like there is a lot of information there just waiting for me to make the connection. I am going to NC for the holidays again this December and hope to work on it some more. If you know of or run across any of your family members who were in the Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC area in the mid 1800's let me know. Thanks again!
Debi

Jan,
I forgot to mention that I have several York ancestors in my line from Randolph Co., NC. Randolph Co. is adjacent to Guilford Co. Where are your Yorks from? I also have Fields ancestors in my family from Guilford Co.

Surnames: Kirkman, Beeson, Fry
I hqve some way back grandparents. John Kirkman married Martha Beeson 02-13-1840.in Surrey CO NC. They had at least 2 sons named Richard & William. John and sons were in the war. I belive John and Dick fought for the south and William for the north. John's Parents may have been William Kirkman and Edy Fry. Not sure on that.
