My grandfather was adopted in 1899. My Aunt says his adoptive parents picked him up in Macon when he was a few months old. They lived in Monticello, GA. Does anyone have any information about an orphanage in Macon back then? thanks, chris

I know I have a family member that was in an orphanage in the 1930 census. It was located in Bib county and called the orphans home in south georgia conference methodist episcopal church south. I am waiting for inquiries on my posts and have contacted Rocky Creek Library for info.

Thought this might prove productive http://www.themethodisthome.org/history.htm
I, too, had relatives in this Orphanage in the 1920 census. Hope this provides you with a lead.
