You seem to have a huge amount of information about the Hacketts of Milltown. I am a decendent of James Hackett and Teresa Purcell.

Which Hackett are you related to and what year did they emigrate to America?

Thanks for your help

As I said in my previous reply I am a descendent of James Hackett and Teresa Purcell. I am interested in when your ancestors emigrated, and any other information that you may wish to supply regarding them.

Many thanks

My grand=father migrated to the USA in 1905 along with his
brother John. They are siblings of Thomas Patrick
Hackett and Mary Anne Dwyer. Thomas was the last child
of Patrick Hackett and Charlotte O'Connor. I know that
James and Teresa had 11 children, and she was the Post-
mistress of Milltown when Thomas died. Who were your
parents from James and Teresa. I know Jane and Mary Teresa
didn't marry.

Was your grandfather Charles? I dont think the othe brothers emigrated.

My great grand father James died in 1890 in Milltown.

My grandfather was Patrick born in 1880 in Milltown.

My father was Bernard who was born in Dublin. He spent some years living with his two aunts in their later years. They remained post mistresses until their deaths.

By the way who did Patrick marry and when and who did
Bernard marry. I am very curious now.
I correspond with about four other cousins over in Ireland,
now.

Hi,
My great-great grandmother was Bridget Purcell, a sister of Teresa Purcell who married James Hackett. A brother of theirs- John Purcell Windy Arbour Dublin married Emily Hackett Milltown(daughter of Patrick Hackett & Charlotte O'Connor)on 29 July 1863. The parents of Teresa, John and Bridget (my gggrandmother) were Edward Purcell and Jane Ashton (Purcell) (my great-great-great grandparents). They were grocers & spirit dealers in Windy Arbour. In the 1901 Irish census Jane Purcell is residing with her daughter Bridget Langan. Both Edward & Jane Purcell are buried in St Nahi's Taney.
