Why post on Historical British Empire board when you know he was born in Yorkshire?

I dont know enough to properly answer your question. I posted to try to find my ancestors.
Perhaps that is the wrong place to inquire, but I dont know that.
My line 12 generations ago entered this country in 1678 when Robert and his son Benjamin Duffield landed in America from the Port of Hull, England.
This family had considerable ties with the founding fathers of our nation, especially Benjamin Franklin.
I would like to research this line back from Robert Duffield.
I understand his father was John Duffield, married to Johanna Lerrock, John born in 1590 died 1615, but I am not certain this is correct.

It's perfectly okay to post this question to this board. You have ancestors the immigrated to America which is included as part of the British Empire.
