Surnames: Lewis, Payne
I am seeking info on the Lewis family of western NY state, who came to FDL co. abt. 1844, bringing with them a young relative, Silas A. Payne, age 7. His mother had died, and we suspect his mother may have been a Lewis.

Deb, I have some bits of PAYNE/PAINE familiy information from Lewis Co, NY who married ARTHUR's and went to Fond du Lac. There are allied surnames, as listed here, too. Be glad to share, but I don't know of any Silas, yet. Will email you so that you have my email address, too.

Surnames: Crofoot
The burial plot for the Crofoot family in Rienzi Cemetery (Fond du Lac, WI) is pretty neat which is why I remember it. The main headstone is a log cabin, and then all of the smaller stones are logs.

The Crofoot family consisted of:
Alva 1833-1901
Cornelis, wife 1834-1919
Lovina, grandma 1804-1883
Lewis, Grandpa 1805-1873
Isaac D May 6, 1836 - Apr 21, 1895
Cornelia Ruth Aug 26, 1852 - May 29, 1932

Just wanted to pass that along to you.

I don't have anything on your Sarah Lewis or Frederick Vinton. I will print out your query and take it to the Co. clerks office on my next visit there.

I am researching the Worthing family from Fond du Lac Co., I found cemetery records listing Fila Worthing dod 7 June 1875, w/o FM daughter of EG and TA Lewis. I believe she was married to Franklin (Frank) Worthing and died shortly after giving birth to Edgar David Worthing. Do you have any info on this Lewis family?

I am not fimiliar with any of the names that you mentioned. I did some checking at the County Clerk's office and found only the marriage record for Fila Lewis and Framk M. Worthing. According to the record, they were married on July 6, 1873, in Waupun. Frank's parents were David and Jane Worthing. There were no names for the parents of the bride. Frank was listed as a farmer from Oakfield. I was surprised that there was no birth record for Edgar David Worthing.
