This pass year I met a young lady in Arlington Texas , Wwe were looking for a house and she was moving out of this place. I felt at the time she favored my family members somewhat. We hit it off real good and I was just wondering if you could be that same person, she was moving over by where I live now in Arlington. Would be great if you would happen to be family.

My gg granddfather was Uriah McKnight, married to Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of John Thomas. I have some information that appears to have been copied from a Bible many years ago. The only information that I have on William was that he was born on the 22nd day of February, 1809 and was supposed to have been killed by a tree fall in California. The information that I have shows Enoch spelled with an h and instead of Harmon it shows Hanum. My g grandfather was Thomas, and my grandfather was James. I would like more information on Uriah and his father, mother ect. I do not know when or where he was born or when or where he died.

Jim - I am sending you more info by e-mail but wanted to update my two year old query. I no longer believe that Ura is Uriah's daughter - although she COULD be. Have proof that John, William, Harmon, Thomas, and Enoch are his sons. Uriah's parents are William and Margaret (Jordan) McKnight. Dr. Carmen Finley's site has much data about them. I am still looking for William's wife who was born before 1826 in Ohio. She may have been married to a Mr. Morton before her marriage to William McKNight between 1841 and1845. the birthplace of their daughter, Virginia Elizabeth, (married Samuel Reid Hill) has been listed as many places - but the three times that we think she answered the census taker herself, it is given as LA - but cannot find her ANYWHERE in 1850 census. Just recently received the info from someone else that William died from "a tree fall in CA" - so must be from same source. Do not know how to follow up on that. William is not in 1850 CA census and we know he was dead by Sep 1853. Still looking for his wife after 12 years!!

I found your query from several years ago. My GG Grandfather was Peter Thomas McKnight B. 1809 in South Carolina. G-Grandfather was William Thomas McKnight Born in Ga. My Grandfather was Middleton Monroe McKnight. I was once told our McKnight line has always had a Thomas in it.

Think we might be related?

Thanks for your time,

Our Thomas McKnight was born in 1812 in Virginia and in 1835 he moved to Mississippi and on to Texas in the early 1850s. His mothers maiden name was Thomas, so that is probably where he got his name. None of my McKnight ancestors lived in South Carolina or Georgia. We may be related, but we would have to go back further than the early 1700s to find a connection.

I have been researching the McKnight family, beginning with William McKnight (1730-1794; Wilmington, Newcastle Delaware to Loudon County, Virginia) and Margaret Jordan McKnight (1735-1811). William is my sixth great grandfather. My bloodline traveled from Delaware (perhaps Maryland, previously) to Loudon County, Virginia to many counties in Ohio and West Virginia. Post Civil War, they went to numerous states.

It sounds like we have fellow kinsmen. :>)
