Mary COYNE married Michael MANNION in Killeen in County Galway (Parish of Moyrus) in 1858. Their witnesses were Penelope and Derby COYNE. In 1871 they emigrated to South Australia. In 1873 their three oldest children, Mary, Bartholomew and Joseph Patrick, accompanied by John McDONOUGH, joined them. In 1877 Michael applied for immigration assistance for Mary and Michael O'TOOLE and for Michael's brother Martin MANNION and his spouse Bridget (nee NEE). Martin arrived in 1879 with his two children Patrick and Roseanne. I believe these people were all from the Ballynahinch/Recess/Roundstone area of Conemara. Please email if you can connect with them.

My KING family from Iowa seemed to have a strong relationship with the McDonough family who lived in Iowa City Iowa and St. Louis MO. I think they were relatives, but have not confirmed it so far. There was a Lily McDonough whose name keeps coming up....everyone knew her and loved her, no one can say for sure if she was related. My KING and O'TOOLE family came from the same area of Clifden, Galway as your McDonoughs. Thought there might be a connection.

Hi My Husbands ansesters came from Clifden County Galway 3 or 4 generations back. Thomas along with 2 of his brothers didnt like the idea of the teacher living with the family so they took the family boots and left home. One went to America while Thomas and the other brother worked their passage on a boat to Australia, where the brother got off and Thomas carried on to New Zealand, where he married and the rest is history.
