Does anyone have any historical information about the Bethel Lutheran Church in Paddock township, Section 29 of Ottertail County? If so, please share. Thanks. JJ

I own the Book -"Pages of Time 1889-1998"
Tht is the Sebeka MN Centennial Book.
There is quite a lengthy write up on the churches and when they combined, also pictures of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Paddock Township.
I also have in my own personal picture files, one of the church as is now badly in decay, not even used as a town hall for voting any more. I too had & do have now, family in Paddock Township, I get up there quite a bit ( in good weather)

On a better note, the cemetery right next to the church is cared for very well.( My back yard should look so good.)

I can either scan & email the pages to you or snail mail them, you call it.

Thank you for your note. I think my Dad has a copy of the Sebeka book. Let me see if I can find his copy. My grandfather gave the land for the church to be build on in about 1913. His farm was next to the church. I was just at a burial at the cemetery a couple of weeks ago and the church building broke my heart. It is such a shame to see our history deteriorate. Thanks for the information. I can't believe somebody actually read this note who even knows where Paddock Township is. :)

Paddock Township is where 2 generations of my family homesteaded, right down the road from your church.

In the cemetery north of what is now called " Hillview" used to be called Paddock -- I have 13 family members buried there. Most recently my only sibling -brother who was buried there in May of 2003.
We took him "home" he was born to my folks when they lived on the homestead in Paddock Township back in 1951.

Hi Claire - I'm from Redding, CA. I was in Hillview Cemetery in the Paddock twp. last Sept. and was so blessed to find the grave of my great-aunt, Amanda Hult Swanson. She died 7-11-1912. She has a heart-shaped tombstone. In your book, does it give any information on John and Amanda Swanson, or John and Annie Bengtson? The Bengtson's lived in Sebeka, and my grandmother and grandfather Hult were married in their home in 1911. It would be wonderful to have some information. Thanks for whatever you can find.

Hi, Claire - I don't know what happened but I had never read your last e-mail about the Bengtson articles. My husband died suddenly and I haven't worked on my Family Tree for several years now, but am back at it. Wow, I would not want you to have to sit and type anything, but if you could scan articles about John and Annie Bengtson and John and Amanda Swanson that would be a blessing! My e-mail address is: carolkoz@charter.net.

Hope to hear from you. Carol
