My Great grandmother was Melinda Cordelia Jarvis she married John Henry Fenton.
They were married in Bond Co. Illinois on Dec. 21, 1904

They had 10 children:

Forrest
Vallie
Willis........(my grandfather)
Mamie
John
Otto
Cecil
Willard
Alfred
William

Her Father was George Jarvis.
Her Mother was Mary Elizabeth Trailor / Traylor

Her parents were married December 6, 1876 in Bond Co. Illinois.

I have just start to search out the Jarvis side. I keep running into brick walls. Melinda was either 1/2 or 1/4 Cherokee, and I am having a very difficult time finding her family.

I hope this information helps you out.

Brenda,

Just curious, have you made any progress on the background of your George Jarvis? I've found him with his family (including Melinda C.) in the 1900 Bond Co. Federal Census. I believe that there's a good chance that your George was a son of William Thomas Jarvis and Mary Jane Bell. If you want, take a look at:

I have the same understanding. William G. was my great-grandfather. I am having trouble as well finding information on the Native-American side. If I find any information I will send it to you.
