Maurice Mannix and Margaret ?? had at least one son Patrick b Abt 1845, Ireland (my Great grandfather). I would be looking for any info on Maurice and Margaret and if Patrick had any brothers and/or sisters. Patrick married Catherine Harrington-Green November 26, 1871 in Holyoke, Hampden, MA. They had 9 children. Margaret, James Patrick, Mary Ella, John, Daniel (My Grandfather), Thomas, Johana Josephine, Catherine, and Frank James. I have birthdates on all kids but Margaret. Any help would be appreciated.

Gary,

I was looking up the mannix board when I happened to read your inquiry.
I have a Maurice Mannix whom married a Margaret Dowd on my family tree. Alas all the info I have on their children is a James Mannix born about 1834 County Kerry Ireland. He married a Joahanna Finnaughty 29/9/1856 In Tralee Ireland.
Both immigrated to Australia. Maurice would be my Great great great grandfather. Hope that it of some help would love to hear from you if it is.

regards Salli

Thanks Salli

Just maybe your James is my Patrick's brother. I can't believe that Patrick was an only child. I tried to extract your e-mail address from your posting but could not. I actually sent an entire message but it bounced back. I would be happy to share any info that I have. My addresses are: gmannix@in-tch.com or gmannix@mtech.edu I prefer the first one. There are several people on this end working on Patrick, so your info could be helpful. Thanks again. Write to me anytime.

Hi, my GG Grandfather was also a Maurice Mannix who married a Margaret Dowd. His son my G Grandfather was James Mannix who married Johanna Finnaughty in Kerry Ireland in 1856. They came to Australia in 1862 [approx] and went on to have 15 children. Patrick and James could be brothers. Please reply

Hi Cathie

Thanks for writing. I haven't looked at my message in quite a while but my Patrick's Father (to the best I know) was Maurice Rathgoggin MANNIX married to Margaret (no last name). Patrick was born about 1845 in Ireland so could have been James's younger brother?? I have not been able to find any of Patrick's siblings. It does not seem realistic that an Irish Catholic family would have only had one child. I have been suspecting that Patrick (and maybe a sister) came to the United States and the others went to Australia. Patrick came to the United States in the early 1860's. I would love to correspond more with you and have no problem sending you any info that I have. Through this message board, I found a relative in Seattle, WA. She is the gg granddaughter of my dad's aunt. She is going to Ireland sometime this summer and is going to do some research for us. My daughter lives in Seattle so we get together once in awhile. I am hoping to find out anything that I can about Patrick because my dad is still alive and never knew his grandfather (apparently died in the 1890's??). My dad will be 88 next month. I am his youngest at 55. If you would like you can write to me directly. I have two e-mail addresses and prefer to use the first one but either is OK.

I look foward to hearing from you.

Gary,
my G,Grandfather James Mannix was born in Co Kerry Ireland in 1834 and died in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia in 1909.
His parents were Maurice Mannix and Margaret Dowd.
They came from the Faeries Cross region of Co Kerry.
He had 15 children, the youngest, Denis, was my grandfather.
All the names you mention pop up in his children's names.
Denis had 10 children and his youngest child Daniel,
was my father.
I have info to spare on all the Australian descendants of Maurice and Margaret.
It would be great to talk further as it appears probable that we are related.

Terry Mannix.
